Steritrox secures £2.5m investment

Stockport-based Steritrox Ltd has secured an additional £2.5 million investment to further establish its advanced ozone sanitising system which effectively combats harmful contaminants in the food industry and more recently the rapidly growing threat of "superbugs" such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile in hospitals.

Steritrox secured the multi-million pound investment from both their existing investor North West Equity Fund (NWEF), which has supported the establishment of the company since it first developed its unique sanitising technology in 2005 and new investor WHEB Ventures, which recognises the commercial and environmental benefits of this extremely effective system.

The Steritrox room sanitising process was initially developed for the food production industry and is currently being used by some of Europe's largest food manufactures to eradicate harmful bacteria and contaminants such as Listeria and E.coli in their production units.

The company recently developed a new portable Steritrox system to be used in hospital wards, operating theatres and general areas which is designed to dramatically reduce the cross infection rates, currently a major issue with such virulent strains of MRSA and Clostridium difficile becoming established.
